Group nigrina
A magnificent group of twelve large winged species, to be found from the Moluccas through New Guinea to Australia and the Bismarck Islands. It contains some of the most beautiful of all Delias.
All the species have a red subcostal stripe on the underside of the hind wing and usually there is a red submarginal line. where there isn't one, the hind wing is black.
Please note the species wollastoni was originally placed in this group by Talbot (Monograph of the Pierine Genus Delias 1937) on a provisional basis as no structural examination had been made. I am not aware that this has yet been undertaken.
