. ayamiae Sakuma 1996 - Pass Valley, Wamena, Papua

Notes on Delias callima :

This species is distinguished from the rest of the group by having a black ground colour on the underside hindwing, marked with reddish-brown markings.

The recently described subspecies, D.c.ayamiae should, in all likelihood , because of its geographical situation, be placed with D. c. telefominensis.

There is no reason of giving ssp telefominensis a full species status.
